Sound Journey
Adrian Freedman’s music is a peaceful journey in a search for the purity of melodic line, a fascination with musical traditions from around the world and a call to explore inner realms through the dimension of sound. Inspired by different musical forms, people, places, performances and projects, Adrian calms the mind of those who follow its sounds. He is a multi-instrumentalist specialising in the shakuhachi Zen flute. He lived seven years in Japan studying the shakuhachi with renowned master Yokoyama Katsuya, and later lived in Brazil where he became immersed in the sacred music rituals of the Amazon Forest. Adrian has collaborated in a great variety of projects with musicians around the world. Arising from his journey, Adrian has also received a collection of more than 150 original medicine songs and chants. Through his journey he has found that I am naturally drawn to the music of sacred traditions, music of ritual and ceremony, music for meditation, music of devotional practice, music of the mountain temples and forest clearings, music played in the stillness of the dawn and the magic of the full moon, music of transformative power, music that penetrates the veil – a transcendental acoustic music of the heart.
